At this point in the summer, after the Fourth of J At this point in the summer, after the Fourth of July and so many barbecues in the books, it always feels like the season is over. I don’t know why it feels like this, but it does every year despite another 2+ months of summer.

If you know me, you know I love fall. I write about this a lot and it’s basically a personality trait for me at this point. However, the quick end of the summer (or any season, really) is kind of sad. The stores are filled with apple-cinnamon scented candles and plastic jack-o-lanterns, but it’s not apple picking season OR pumpkin picking season. Isn’t that wild?

We’re so concerned with the next thing on our agendas IMMEDIATELY that we settle for the artificial versions of actual beauty. A plastic pumpkin will never be better than the real thing, but we are so impatient that we don’t care.

I’m always excited about autumn, but I don’t think missing the rare beauty of summer is worth it. I, for one, know I need to really meditate on time and the seasons, and I’m hoping to get better at that this year. ⛵️🌾⚓️🐟🐠 #summer

That would be weird, right? Well, as someone who has always either been a student or teacher or parent to a kid in school, the year just *seems* to begin in July for me. The end of a school year is in the last few weeks of June, and for some reason this is just how my brain processes the months 🤪
