Can you believe it is already December 8th?
It’s been almost a month since I have posted anything on my blog, and it feels bittersweet. Sometimes it’s nice to unplug for a while and really enjoy the moments that I am experiencing, but writing here is one of my favorite hobbies and I miss posting.
I have to be honest: this holiday season feels “weird.” Without going into too much detail, this is the first holiday season without some of our closest loved ones. 2021 was very hard for my family and I, and I genuinely feel a sense of melancholia now that the year is closing and I reflect on these past few months. However, I am pushing myself to charge through this holiday season with a smile on my face because although I feel sad at times, I am genuinely happy and feel blessed. Rather than constantly reflecting on loss, I have been trying to prepare my heart for the birth of Christ. We are Christians, and Advent is a time of preparation in our faith. Through Christ, all is renewed, and I am looking forward to bringing this eternal hope into 2022.
With all of that being said, the start of my Christmas season has been a slow one. It’s amazing to me how quickly the holiday season seems to whiz by, and I am trying to absorb as much of it as I can. It feels like just yesterday we were trick ‘r treating, or preparing the Thanksgiving turkey, and now I am decking the halls. I find myself wishing that time would slow down, but this is coupled with Christmas impatience.
I hope that your holiday season is off to a great start, and that you enjoy the rest of the season. I am going to try and post more frequently, especially in the coming weeks.
