As most people know, I am primarily a wine drinker. However, what most people don’t know is that I am secretly a gin drinker, too. My favorite cocktail of all time is a very dry gin martini. In fact, I like my martinis so dry that stirring or shaking my drink in the general direction of Italy is enough vermouth for me.
Despite all that, I do enjoy festive cocktails around the holidays and this year we invented our own concoction to share with y’all! It’s sweet, beautifully presented, and features my favorite Hendrick’s gin. I present to you: The Frosted Mistletoe.
Enjoy!
Ingredients (Makes Two)
- 3 oz. Hendrick’s gin
- 6 oz. cranberry ginger ale
- 3 oz. freshly squeezed orange juice
- 2 tsp grenadine
- 2 tsp honey
- Sugar (for the rim of the glass)
- Ice
- Fresh cranberries (for garnish)
- Sprigs of thyme (for garnish)
Instructions
Chill two glasses in the freezer for at least one hour. Pour sugar into a shallow bowl until evenly distributed. Pour cold water into a shallow bowl. Set the bowls side by side and remove the glasses from the freezer. Dip the rim of the glass into the water and remove. Immediately dip the rim into the sugar bowl.
In a mixing glass, combine ice, the Hendrick’s gin, cranberry ginger ale, orange juice, grenadine, and honey. Stir until well combined.
Pour into the chilled glass and garnish with the fresh cranberries and thyme sprig.
Enjoy!
