Fall is my absolute favorite season. I love the fashion, the literature, and just the overall mood of the season. I also love the movies! I complied a list of some of my favorite fall movies that I think you’ll enjoy.
1. Halloween (1978)
What kind of fall movie list would be complete without this classic? It’s the essential slasher film! Plus, this movie can prepare you for the all new sequel featuring the original cast coming out October 2018! The new film will be a direct sequel to the 1978 film, which is pretty wild considering all the Halloween movies out there. I know not everyone is a horror fan, but this is a movie that will definitely give you all the spooky feels needed for a proper Halloween.
2. It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (1966)
I would be completely lying if I said this is on the list as a kid-friendly option. Yes, it is. But this is also a movie I love even now as an adult. I remember waiting all October for this baby to play on TV!
3. Practical Magic (1998)
Who doesn’t love a good tale about witches in New England? Practical Magic is romantic, funny, mystical, and autumnal. Plus, the cast if phenomenal. If you’re looking for a good chick flick for a girl’s night, this is a winner.
4. Hocus Pocus (1993)
This is another movie that is kid-friendly and adult approved. Again, who doesn’t love a movie about witches in New England? This cult classic is a must. Plus, the sequel novel just came out!
5. Home for the Holidays (1995)
The fall season does not just end at Halloween. This hilarious Thanksgiving film will definitely make you laugh. The dinner scene in this movie is one of my all time favorites. Oh, and the cast is phenomenal.
6. The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
Is it a Halloween movie? Or a Christmas movie? Either way, it’s excellent. I really like this film because it prepares me for the upcoming Christmas season all while still being a fall classic. Oh, and the music is pretty good, too! Overall I find this whole tale super creative and always enjoy the graphics and imagery.
These are just a few of my favorites. There are tons of other fall movies out there everyone should watch, such as Dead Poets Society, Hannah and Her Sister, Trick ‘r Treat, or Halloweentown. What are your favorites? I’d love to hear!
