I cannot believe that Baby Lopes #2 will be here in less than six weeks. I feel like just yesterday I saw that first positive pregnancy test and made our public announcement! Because we love a good party, my mom and husband threw me a little baby sprinkle to welcome our new son last month and celebrate with close family and friends at The Proving Ground in Highlands, NJ.
Because the sprinkle was held during December, the theme of the party was “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.” I wanted to avoid a straight-up Christmas theme, and the winter theme fit so well given the time of the year. I also kind of wanted to avoid the typical “baby” theme like I had for my first shower, if that makes any sense. Again, it was a super small gathering so we were really able to make it our own and I wanted to share some of the details with you all.
The Tables
We had fresh brush and greenery on all the tables with different sized candles. I’ve really been into fresh greenery lately and I thought it fit super well with the theme. The tables and chairs at the restaurant were also made of dark wood and very rustic and it all looked great together. The greenery sat on blueish-gray light runners, and we also sprinkled pine cones throughout. I also found these really delicate sparkly strands of silver beads that we kind of laid around the greenery, too. (I’m like 99% sure they were made for Christmas trees, haha!) I found most of the materials for the tables at Hobby Lobby.
The Balloons
If you know me, you know I love balloons and had to have some sort of balloon arch or balloon decoration or something. (My poor husband and his best friend, Sam, know about my balloon obsession all too well. They’re my go-to guys for picking up my orders, haha! Hi, Sam!)
However, the boys were in luck because I found a local decorator who did amazing work for the sprinkle. She created a whole balloon garland with my theme colors and added greenery and flowers. It looked so beautiful and was exactly what I had in mind. She also brought in her own backdrop that she made and it matched the rustic dark wood tables. She even brought in the egg chair for photo opportunities!
On a related side-note, if you’re throwing a party or need professional decorating help, I highly recommend checking out Pretty Little Things (@p.little.thingss on Instagram). Jen was able to basically create and do anything that popped into my mind and spent a lot of time going over colors and details, etc., with me. She was amazing to work with and I cannot wait to use her services again in the future!
Actually, after the sprinkle, my mom contacted Jen to help create decorations for her Christmas tree and they also turned out amazing. My mom’s whole tree was decorated in MacKenzie-Childs’ Courtly Check pattern this year and Jen made custom bows using the Courtly Check 4″ ribbon. She can create just about anything.
My Outfit
I could talk for days about maternity clothes. During my first pregnancy, I genuinely had no idea that maternity clothes could be comfortable while being stylish. (Frankly, I didn’t know stylish maternity clothes were even really a thing during my first pregnancy…)
However, Pink Blush came in for the rescue this time around. I have been loving everything I’ve ordered from them since becoming pregnant. For my sprinkle, I wore Pink Blush’s ribbed sleeveless dress cardigan maternity set. It was super flattering, extremely comfortable, and the set came in a variety of colors to choose from. (Also, Pink Blush’s clothing is very true to size from my experience. Whatever your pre-pregnancy size was is the size you’ll be during pregnancy with this brand. I love that there are no guessing games.)
ALSO, Pink Blush is having a 30% off sale right now! I will include the picture link to my dress below if you’re interested!
Our “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” Sprinkle
Well, that’s really it! I just wanted to go over the details of the party because I am so happy with how it all came together. I also can’t get over how amazing Jen from Pretty Little Things is and I highly recommend checking her out for all your New Jersey party, decoration, or balloon needs!
I’m publishing a post soon on second-time-mom-must-haves that I received as gifts for my sprinkle. It’s amazing how different my must-have list is for this baby compared to my first! Stay tuned! if you’re interested in any of the materials I used for the sprinkle or my outfit, the details are below.
